The Concept2 StrengthErg is a compact, multifunctional strength training machine.
It uses the power of air resistance to deliver a comprehensive and safe workout without the need to deal with weight plates, racks and barbells. You can apply as much or as little force as you want and the StrengthErg will accurately measure and display your result. Our free ErgData app gives you the performance tracking and analysis needed to achieve your goals.
Available to purchase in two options:
1.425,90 € – 1.592,50 €Price range: 1.425,90 € through 1.592,50 €
The StrengthErg is powered by Concept2’s signature flywheel technology, which can be varied in intensity depending on the combination of the damper setting and the amount of effort the user produces. The responsive nature of air resistance results in a variable load depending on the user’s strength. A lower damper setting, or less air resistance, produces a lighter feel when pressing or pulling. A higher damper setting, or more air resistance, produces a heavier feel when pressing or pulling.
Another advantage of responsive resistance is that as your strength varies from one point in a lift to another, the resistance reacts to match. In traditional lifting, you can only put on the bar as much weight as you can lift at the weakest point in the lift, which may not be enough to challenge your muscles in the stronger part of the lift.
You can move easily between three basic positions, with a wide range of variations and custom movements possible from each position. You can choose whether to work out at a low number of reps for a high amount of force, or you can choose to do a high number of reps and work on your muscular endurance. It’s quick and easy to adjust the damper setting to make the movement slower or faster, so you can get the exact relationship between speed and force that you want for your training.
“For longevity in strength training or starting at a later age, I see it as an excellent tool to teach movement patterns (squat, push, pull) without creating a significant amount of soreness or requiring much experience, thus allowing the ability to safely and effectively train more frequently and with good mechanics“
Scott Caulfield, Director of Strength & Conditioning, Norwich University

ErgData is our free app for iOS and Android devices that connects to the Performance Monitor. You can choose to erg together with other members of the community on the Real Time Loop, our virtual course that is always open. You can set up workouts straight from ErgData and store them as favorites; take part in the Concept2 Workout of the Day; view additional live information during workouts; track and analyze your progress and more.
With our open-platform monitor you have plenty of apps to choose from, in addition to ErgData. These apps offer a range of features and functions, including live and on-demand classes, virtual racing, training programs and more.
"I just wanted to let you know how much I love the Real Time Loop! I've rowed on the loop three times now in the past couple of days and it's so much fun. I look forward to more people learning about it and joining in."
The StrengthErg delivers a concentric workout, offering a controlled and efficient way to strengthen muscles. As it’s a guided movement, it’s safe for anyone to use, no matter their previous experience. There is no risk of failing to complete a repetition, or being “stuck under the bar”. This makes the StrengthErg ideal to use for a wide audience who want to improve their strength or benchmark their progress. It’s also easy for multiple people to use the machine if training together or in a circuit format – there’s no need to adjust weights: just hop straight on.
“As a trainer, the StrengthErg fulfills a multitude of needs for me, especially the space saving aspect! The ability to have your own force determine your output means that I can use it with a wide variety of clients. The ease of use and the fact that it is one piece versus lots of external accessories, weights, racks, etc. is huge. You can always keep your workouts or group fitness classes fresh and exciting!
Molly Lauridsen, Personal Trainer
You can choose to purchase your StrengthErg with a Performance Monitor (PM5) to display your workout, or you can just use ErgData on your own phone or tablet.
With a PM5 monitor, plus device holder for use with ErgData
This option provides real-time workout feedback as a stand-alone machine for every user. The PM5 is highly recommended for multiuser environments such as gyms, sports teams, or family use. Anyone can also use ErgData on their personal device for additional metrics, logging workout history, and tracking improvement.
Device holder only. Use your own device and ErgData
This option is for those focused on automatically logging and tracking their workouts and who will always be using the StrengthErg with ErgData. ErgData is required for real-time feedback if there is no PM5.
For a machine that has a variety of different exercises and can resist over 1200 pounds of force, the StrengthErg has a small footprint. Measuring just 61 in by 26 in (154 cm by 66 cm), it won’t take up much space and weighs in at just 90 lbs (41 kg). The StrengthErg comes with caster wheels to allow it to be easily moved around your home or gym.
"The huge reason to get one is the community. One of the biggest ways to stay consistent is to be part of something bigger. Whether that's posting results on a Concept forum, joining a team, or racing live or online—the motivational aspect of connecting with others that opens up when you have a Concept2 really is priceless."
